31/08/2007 Serck Controls UK distribution contract with National GridAUGUST 2007 Serck Controls UK are currently undertaking a contract for the National Grid, one of the world’s largest utilities owning and operating gas and electricity transmission and distribution networks within Great Britain. Under this contract, Serck Controls and Atos Origin will implement the Distribution Network Control System (DNCS) which provides key real time and business process support for Great Britain’s gas distribution infrastructure. The contract forms part of National Grid’s strategy for separation of business key systems within their retained distribution business and for each of the newly created Independent Gas Distribution Networks (IDN’s). In considering the separation process, it was agreed that the most effective way forward was to replace the existing GTMS system with a DNCS solution, capable of separation and designed to meet the business needs of all IDN’s. The DNCS has been scheduled as a series of projects which will culminate in the implementation of four independent DNCS instances, each equipped with Serck Controls SCX6 applications software. The first stage is to implement a system which replaces the existing GTMS distribution network control systems with an SCX foundation solution. This solution is suitable for operating real time monitoring and control functions and also delivers a strategic gas network balancing function. |
